7th February 1991 Railfreight Metals liveried Class 60 No. 60008 is seen stabled in Platform 1 in its 'Railfreight Metals' livery shortly after being delivered to BR. The loco has been working some tests with wagons between Taunton and Westbury, for some unknown reason the loco ended up in Platform 1. 20th May 2002 RES Class 47 No.47725 ended up in here after working a charter bound for Minehead on the 18th May 2002. However in the Highbridge area it caught fire!. It was towed to Taunton by the Newton Abbot thunderbird 47733 and was dumped in the bay platform where it stayed for over a week. 47733 worked the return tour and 47725 was finally collected by 66047 which took it back to Newport ADJ the following Friday. 16th March 2003 EWS liveried Class 60 No. 60071 made the very rare appearance of a type five in the bay. The loco had been involved with engineering work at Highbridge, and had worked back to Taunton during the late afternoon. However problems with driver hours saw a crew change required. As the loco had worked down into Fairwater Yard to run round. It was bought up to Platform 1 to save the driver walking back to the station. The relief driver then arrived at approx 17:00 and took the loco back to its train. It later departed for Westbury! (Photo: Paul Finnimore)

10th August 2005 DRS Class 20’s No’s.20313 & 20312 are seen stabled in Platform 1. Having arrived at 07:30 in the morning the pair stayed in Taunton all day until they departed at 21:50 on the 6Z06 Weed Killer to Rugby! (Photo: Brian Garrett)

19th September 2005 EWS Class 66 No. 66176 resides in Platform 1 having arrived from Fairwater Yard. However this was not the first visit of the Class to Platform 1. On the 30th October 2000 66026 was working 0V95 to Exeter Riverside and under caution was allowed to proceed beyond Taunton (Due to serious flooding further South) the loco was asked to check the condition of the track. 66026 only made it as far as Norton Fitzwarren where water was already above track level. It then returned to Taunton Station where it stabled in Platform 1 and the driver got a taxi back to Westbury. (Photo: Jeff Treece)
